Xbox 360 elite harddrive moved to Xbox 360 arcade console

I got the red ring of death on my elite, my warranty expired so it costs me $99 to get fixed at microsoft. I'm going to get a xbox arcade for $199 instead. Can I take my old harddrive out of my elite and attach that to the new xbox arcade console that I am going to purchase? Do you find this valuable?

As far as I know. I've plugged my HD into other consoles before. This is what I am planning to do eventually; I've got a graphics card problem. Do you find this valuable?
