My Enamel Navy Blue DS Lite came from Hong Kong today!
May 4 2006, 6:23 PM EDT
If any of you out there want to order any Japanese import items, I HIGHLY recommend Play-asia.com. I've ordered several things through them and the stuff always comes quickly, and unharmed. If stuff is backordered, and it takes them an extra week or two to fill your order, they'll compensate you somehow a lot of the time. This includes a free game or some other goodies.
Anyway, about my new DS Lite. I know this is an Xbox 360 website, but seeing as how Microsoft has sort of unofficially adopted the DS as it's portable home (probably just to fight against Sony), I thought it'd be okay to talk about this amazing little gadget here. The screens are just INCREDIBLE. They both so much brighter than the original DS' that it makes one wonder how Nintendo could do it. But more than that, even, is how the colors just seem to POP off the screens now. They're so bright and contrast beautifully. Castlevania is a blast to play on the DS now, as is everything else. One word of warning... The Hori Screen Protectors that are available on Play-asia.com are difficult to apply without getting some bubbles under the plastic, along with a permanent fingerprint here and there. However, the fingerprints and bubbles are all but invisible when the DS Lite is turned on. So, even with the negatives, it's still a recommended purchase. And it's only 5 or 6 bucks (US). Sounds awesome Jmann, the only thing that puts me off bying anything on import like this is that I am a very picky person and if I get a DS or PSP with a deaqd pixel then it's tuff luck if you have purchased it from import. They wont exchange it. I will wait until next month (june) for the official DS Lite to hit US shores then I might get one for my wife.

"The only thing that puts me off bying anything on import like this is that I am a very picky person and if I get a DS or PSP with a dead pixel then it's tuff luck if you have purchased it from import."I got lucky. My DS Lite arrived w/o any problems, and hopefully it stays that way. I bought the Monopoly/Battleship/Yahtzee/Boggle game pak last week and some friends of mine came with me to a trendy cafe in Ann Arbor. We all played Monopoly on our DS Lites for about three hours. Man that is a viscious game. :-) While it's true that it can be risky to import a system, like the DS Lite, due to dead pixels, etc... Play-Asia seems to be pretty good about that kind of stuff. If you do have a dead pixel, I'm pretty sure that they will replace the unit for you. (It seems like I read that somewhere on their site. It could have been in their feedback section) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
