well mine has been working (touch wood) since 12th jan......alot of bits iv'e read say this is only a temp fix....can it last longer?

i guess this is just a temp fix sorry to let you all down. i did what i could. at least everyone got a few more days play out of them. all i can say now is do it again to make it red ring and send it back to xbox and hopefully they will send you a new one or fix your.

I've had the same problem as all you guys. Did the blanket trick but since my xbox is out of warranty, I didn't wait to get the 3 rings of death, I powered it off once I noticed the xbox sounded like it was having a hard time. Waited a few secs, removed the blanket and powered it back up, everything works fine for now

hey gimyers how long did ur xbox go on for after you did this, coz mine went for 3 days then died o_oso now i gotta send it off with red rings i dont even have a warrant anymore :( Do you find this valuable? |

well mine had 3 red lights and then the picture went. I then switched the lead to TV and it started working again I wouldn't recommend using a towel to cause it to overheat, because obviously it will cause internal system damage

"Sounds like your xbox is gonna die tomorrow"no it happened to me before i made my first post on the first page of this topic. Sure switching the lead from HDTV to TV makes it work, but overheating your xbox is what is causing it to malfunction now Do you find this valuable? |

hey my xbox cant even get red rings. I left the thing on for almost 2hours with 4 towels wrapped round it and it didnt do a thing but get a bit toasty. its like its frickin immune to the red rings of frickin deathim just gonna buy a cheap xbox and put my hardrive on it, much easier than sending the xbox off for 3 weeeks and paying £60 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I HAVE TO SAY I WAS REALLY DOWN TO SEE MY 12 YEAR OLD SON SO UPSET WHEN THIS HAPPEN TO HIS XBOX THEN I BOUGHT THE NEW PLUGS,IT DIDNOT WORK THEN I CALLED THE GAME STORE FOR THEM TO TELL ME THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM IN THE SYSTEM AND MOST LIKELY CANNOT BE FIXED,THEN I WENT ON THIS WEBSITE AND SEEN THIS,AND THOUGHT TO MYSELF IT CAN'T HURT IT,,SO THEN DID EXACTLY WHAT YOU SAID DO AND TRYED IT AND SURE ENOUGH IT WORKED SO I JUST WANT TO SAY FROM MY HEART THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME PUT A SMILE BACK ON MY SONS FACE,THAT IS IRREPLACABLE SO THANK YOU AND ANYONE WHO READS THIS IT REALLY DOES WORK JUST GIVE IT A TRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

we did not have a picture or sound....but this really worked i was quoted 80+ pounds to have it fixed and i found this forum.... my husband did the towel trick... i was worried it would break but it really did work..... thank u very much..... and others should do this because it really does work.......

Ixbox 360 Manufactures date : 2006-09-20 here you go. I was playing Rockband 2 also when the picture turned Green the Red so I turned it off for a few minutes then turned it back on to no picture only sound. Oh the screen was Black with little white dotes I didn't get any red lights. I bought new av cables nothing changed I did all the suggestions from xbox support gave nothing so lastnight I decided to try the TOWEL trick 3 hours It was on and never got over heated I GIVE UP!! My warrentys out of course. I am starting to think I cursed it when I went and spend $250.00 on upgrading drums,mic w/stand,drum chair and wireless controller ect.. ..only to end up only getting to play 1hour. Sorry for the log reply I'm just pissed. Got any ideas to fixing this problem I'd love them. Hope to hear something .
