Forza Motorsport 2 Update.

Dan Greenwalt is not happy about the Forza Motorsport 2 trailer. He is a goon. Goon pageNone of what you saw at Microsoft's E3 press conference Tuesday was using the in-game engine, nor did the trailer convey the passion for cars that Forza is known for. And Greenwalt, the director of the upcoming Forza title on the Xbox 360, is not happy about that at all because he wants you to know that his game rocks way harder than that video clip.

Still, Forza 2 is making no appearance at E3 whatsoever, so we'll have to take Greenwalt's word for it. There is no playable version behind closed doors and there is no in-game footage of any kind. There is only the trailer that Greenwalt's team didn't even work on, that crazy concept-montage prepared specifically for E3. So here is what we do know. Forza 2 will be released this holiday season. The game is already running smooth at 60 frames per second, Greenwalt said, and the goal is to have the sequel to one of the highest-rated racing games on store shelves before the end of 2006.

The game will feature more than 300 cars, including Lamborghini -- new for Forza. Each car will be fully customizable, from the tires to the spoilers to engine performance to paint job and decals. "It's not any Lamborghini," Greenwalt said. "It's your Lamborghini. You can put a Hello Kitty decal on the hood if you want to. You can put the Mona Lisa on the hood if you want to."

Like the single-player game, Forza 2 on Xbox Live will have 12-player races and you can take your tricked out car online and show it off to your competition -- hopefully the only decal they see is on your bumper. And since decals are customizable, hopefully you can slap on a bumper sticker that says, "You are losing to me." And on the hood? Why not the Playmate of the month? The car is your oyster.

Because Forza 2 is geared toward car and customization freaks, Microsoft is adding a photo mode too. You can take pictures of your ride and post them online, sharing them with your friends. Will there be MS contests for coolest cars? We think so, but Greenwalt wouldn't say anything more about Xbox Live. He did smile when we asked him, if that means anything.

Forza 2 will have more than 60 tracks, so we assume the number is around 30 with their mirrors. Greenwalt said the original Forza tracks are included and are getting the high-resolution treatment. We don't know how many new tracks are in the game, but we do know that Sebring International Raceway will be included. The Florida track has been used since the 1950s and is set on unused runways and support roads for an airport. Sebring features three courses: the 12 Hour Grand Prix Course; the Old Club Course; and the New Club Course, but we don't know which, if not all three, will be included in Forza 2.

Because Sebring is not the smoothest course out there -- there are plenty of bumps, changes in surface and misaligned slabs of cement -- so it's a perfect way to highlight the recently-announced Wireless Racing Wheel 360 that will be launched with Forza 2. We don't know if the two will be packaged together -- we assume you could buy them separately and there will be some form of package. With sophisticated rumble capability and force feedback, the wheel will give gamers a three-dimensional sensation of control, Greenwalt said. For instance, let's say you take a sharp turn. If you let your hands off the wheel, it will automatically self correct. Also, with force-feedback, you will feel when the car is off traction during sharp turns. Greenwalt mentioned that the all racing games down the line will have to be compatible with the wheel as part of the certification process, and there is talk of updating PGR3 with a patch so it works as well. Racing fans will be very happy this holiday season.

Call of Duty 2

Call of Duty 2 is the sequel to the original COD for the PC. Players are thrust into WWII on the side of the allies as they try to stop the Nazi progression across Europe. It ends with the D-Day assault on Normandy. COD2 consists of first person viewpoint action gaming and offers several real life WWII weapons and tactics.

Perfect Dark Zero

Perfect Dark Zero is the prequel to Nintendo’s 2000 release titled Perfect Dark. In PDZ you play the role of Joanna Dark, a super spy in training, as she works along side her father and several other key characters. The perspective of the game is seen from a first person view and mixes action gameplay with stealth overtones. The game is not appropriate for all ages as it features violence and foul language.

This was an idea of mine that I had this morning. Many other video game based websites have a messageboard section, so why not wikixbox360.com? It would be an excellent place for people to share quick thoughts, ideas, or rumors that they've recently heard, and think that others in the community would like to read about as well. This will These wouldn't normally be extremely long posts, or anything. That is what the other sections are for (such as news, reviews, and the like). This will just be a section for people to express small blurbs without having to worry too much about proper punctuation, spelling, or grammar.

Using the boards:

This is how I think it should work, at least for now. If you want to start a new topic, create a new comment on this main messageboard page. Then, edit that comment and express your ideas in the space provided. When someone wishes to reply to what you have posted, they can simply leave a reply at the bottom of your comment. Please try to be courteous and polite towards other users. I know that I, for one, will not tolerate any belittling, or racist comments. If I can think of more later, then I will add it here.

360 Splurge is a website dedicated to Xbox 360 games. It also has a community forum where members can discuss various topics as well as comment on reviews. 360 Splurge provides news and reviews as well as unique information that covers Backwards Compatibility (that has been personally tested by their staff for over 150+ games), VGA Compatibility for original Xbox games, and an NXE Game Install Size database amongst other useful information.

360 Splurge was launched in June 2007 by Clare (EffEmmGee) and Benjamin (BBIAJ).

History
Initially the 360 Splurge focused on Xbox 360 games quickly expanding to multiple formats to accommodate most gamers and members. In 2009 it was streamlined back to just featuring Xbox 360 games so avoid confusion.
There isn't really a reason for the site being called 'Splurge' other than that it being random and unique.

Main Site

As you visit the main Portal page to 360 Splurge you will find an easy to follow navigation bar which will take you to where you want to go. There is also a frequenty updates Release Date list showing what is coming out in the following month.

Features

360 Splurge has different areas for various topics of interests.
Backwards Compatibility and VGA Compatibility lists are 360 Splurge's unique features. Not unique in that no-one else has them. Unique in that we personally hand test well over 120+ original Xbox games and report on anything we find, this is unlike most other sites that copy the list from Xbox.com's Backward Compatibility list and take it as truth that its accurate. The most recent feature is the NXE Game Install Size database which tells you how much HDD space is needed should you choose to install a game.

Reviews and Rating System

Since the 360 Splurge launched we have written game reviews for recently released titles. 360 Splurge may consider a Retrospective Review section for older games that may deserve mentioning. Reviews are no longer given marks out of 10 like other sites, this is due to finding out that most readers ski the review just to see the score, we would like to encourage people to read the review to get a better understanding of our opinions. When writing our reviews we cover at least the following:

Re-playability

The forums for 360 Splurge has undergone a few changed since the site launched in June 2007, initially it was designed for members to organise game nights on the Xbox 360, failing that those sections were removed and recently replaced with a Game With... section for Staff members to designate a game, day/night and time of an event, it would then be up the members to check when game nights are happening and be there.

Game Nights (Game With...)

New to the 360 Splurge is a section on their forums for Game Nights. As the site focuses mainly on the Xbox 360 platform, this section is designed for the staff of 360 Splurge to plan out a Game Night. They will announce the Day, Time, and Game and members will have to check to see what is planned and turn up. There is no obligations and members will not be looked down upon in they don't turn up. 360 Splurge is not a Clan.

Staff Profiles

Coming soon will be a new page, 'Meet The Splurgers'. This will be a profile page where the 360 Splurge staff members will introduce themselves so members can see who is behind the name.

General comments:

Graphics: 8.5 / 10
Improved over years past, but could still use more detail.

Sound: 7 / 10
Pretty good soundtrack, and MUCH better commentary, although most of the good voice work is Cris Collinsworth, with Tom Hammond doing a mediocre job and John Madden is MIA except for Madden IQ test (which is terrible anyway).

Controls: 8.5/ 10
Steep learning curve for new players, but once controls are learned, they are great. A QB avoidance control would be nice addition for next year.

Gameplay: 8.5/ 10
Good gameplay but is still not up to the level set by NFL 2k5

Overall rating: 8/ 10
