There's no technical reason to tie this sort of functionality to an MCE box and the long-term payoff for MSFT (control over the living room) is greater than the revenue stream of the very few individuals that might buy and MCE box just to do this. Continuing with this coupling is a bad business move for MSFT and a show-stopper for consumers because of the cost. Wise up Microsoft! 3 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you find this valuable? 		Thread started: Jun 8 2006, 7:41 PM EDT Watch I have created an online movie library with my 360 via the Media Center. I encoded my DVDs to Hi-Def resolution WMV files. Each movie has a folder and I saved the DVD cover art in JPG files called folder.jpg. When I browse my movies on the 360, I see a big list of DVD covers. Just click, and I have an awesome 1080i resolution movie with full Dolby 5.1. It will be interesting to see what the features of this media center are, and how it will work! PS2 and Xbox can already play these formats off of a local network... and the cost to buy and mod a PS2 or Xbox is about 1/3 the cost of a 360 and Windows MCE. Thanks for giving us the -easy- functionality. I bought my Xbox just to stream media to it via XBMC. I probably would've bought a 360 on launch if they would've included this functionality into the 360 natively. Why they didn't? 		Thread started: Jun 5 2006, 7:26 PM EDT Watch I have Windows XP right now, but not MCE. So, if that is the case, then I cannot see how this would help a whole lot. There is something coming out though (also from Datel, as I'm guessing that this is), that will allow you to connect your Xbox 360 Hard Drive to your PC using a USB cable, while still having it connected to the 360. This will allow you to transfer all files between your PC and 360, thus allowing for UNLIMITED storage space, and the ability to save trailers that are downloaded via Live and to put movies and music ONTO your Xbox 360. It's only supossed to cost about fifty bucks too. Anyone interested in this product should DEFINITELY look into that other one as well.
