Your Gamertag is what your friends will identify you as on Xbox Live.
Q: I have a Internet connection, but I lag to much to be able to play.
This is probably due to things in the way of your connection, or the connection is too far away. Concrete, Floors and walls and other things in the way of your router / connection will make you lag. Microsoft's servers also tolerate a very high ping (200ms), so half the time your lag is just Microsoft sending you to a bad lobby. This is especially problematic in games like Call of Duty, becausea competent player can gun a guy down in those 200 millisconds.
Q: How can I talk to the other players?
You need to by a Xbox 360 Headset, Wired are $15.99 Wireless are $59.99
(Wireless is actually lower fidelity, but you can't yank the cords out like 90% of people do with their wired headsets. Craftsmanship!)
