THAW Review - Baker
Tony Hawk's Wasteland resembles all of the other Tony Hawk games that have come out in the past years. It’s a well designed game. The thing that I like most about the Tony Hawk games are that you can do so much and it's such a long game that you can't just really go and beat it in one day. It takes time and gets very frustrating at times, but that’s what makes it very fun. It’s a great game for teens that are in the skating scene.
Graphics: 8 / 10
The graphics are half way decent in the game. I know for a fact that the graphics could get twice as good if they put the time and effort into it. But I think that the game isn’t all about having the best graphics, but having the best Gameplay and story mode and to have the most available things for you to keep yourself entertained. The graphics are decent enough to make it so people are not paying attention to them.
Sound: 8 / 10
The sound is real fun in this game. They put real songs while you are skating on the game for you to listen to. I think that attracts a lot of people to play it because they can skate and have music going at the same time. The sound is very clear and very precise. Whenever you grind or do any sort of trick the sound is right on time for the action. This makes the game seem more realistic.
Controls 8 / 10
The controls on this game take a real long time to get used to. Every little tweak in the joystick and the buttons make a move. You have to do the controls perfectly to make the move that you're intending to do. A real cool thing about this game is you can get off your skateboard and run around the area instead of skating if you don’t feel like skating. You can do a million different views of your guy and around the map.
Gameplay 9 / 10
The gameplay is what makes the game what it is. The gameplay is amazing you can do so many different things that you don’t get bored. You're constantly trying to beat high scores and make new records. The game has a great story mode as well as single player, multiplayer, and free skate. Like I said, the game has so many options that you won't get bored of it.
Overall: 9 / 10
Overall this game ROCKS! It's better then the other Tony Hawk games and it makes PS2 look bad. Graphics are better on the xbox 360 then on the PS2. The Tony Hawk games have always had a good reputation for being a very good game. This game proves that. I have been playing these games since Tony Hawk pro skater 1 came out on PS1.
I’m going to have to say that I would play this one over any other one of them.
