Smash TV never looked as good as it does on the Xbox 360. The developer has taken the original game and faithfully recreated the arcade look to take advantage of new technology like high definition resolutions. However, none of the graphics themselves were improved, in particular the game show host animation. It could also be argued that they developed could have added some animation to the prized littering the environments as the simply lay there motionless. Sound in this title is also faithfully recreated the arcade perfection and will bring many smiles to old school gamer faces. If you love Smash TV, then the added extras and faithful recreations will make you more than happy. If you have never played Smash TV though, you may wonder what all the fuss was about all those years ago.

Gameplay: 7 out of 10
The gameplay of Smash TV is a faithful recreation of the arcade game, and this is true for one reason. Instead of using the d-pad to aim your shots, this version lets you use the dual analog control sticks to replicate aiming with arcade joysticks. It is a far more intuitive system and allows for more precise aiming. The problem with this game, as it was always, is that the difficulty is quite high. However, instead of making you get better at the game to advance on, you simply have unlimited continues in single player mode, and as long as one of the players is alive in co op mode the other players can respawn. It is commendable to the developer that they took the time to make Smash TV playable over Xbox Live. Two players can join forces over the service to lay waste to the games many levels in an attempt to make to the end and face Mutoid Man. There is really a wealth of gameplay options to explore in this budget Live Arcade title that should make any old school arcade fan happy.

Overall: 6 out of 10
An arcade perfect port of one of the most loved games in gaming history is something that many gamers have been wanting for years. To the gamer’s surprise, not only is Smash TV faithfully recreated, but it has added online support over Xbox Live for two player co op. It is however, disappointing that the game was not improved presentation wise and has no real new content not experienced before. To fans of the game, this is a great reason to take part in Xbox Live Arcade. People who have never played it though, may find it average at best. Smash TV is a good purchase for old school arcade enthusiasts with an Xbox 360.
