FarCry Instincts: Predator

FarCry Instincts: Predator includes the original FarCry Instincts, and the semi-sequel FarCry Instincts: Evolution. The game features improved graphics over the Xbox version, and has a pretty robust map creator.

Graphics: 6.5/10

Okay, this may sound like a bad score, but it's not. This game looks like an enhanced FarCry Instincts, and that's just what it is. The water effects are absolutely beautiful though, and the weapons look pretty good in your hands. The effect when you go into predator/feral mode looks really cool too. Really, the game (other than the water) doesn't look like anything special at all, but it doesn't look bad either.

Sound: 8/10

I'm scoring the sound pretty high because the ambient soundss in the game are good. Also, I cannot think of much to complain about with the sound. Overall, I'd just have to say that it's way above average, but still not all that spectacular. The fact that it sounds noticably different if you're walking, crouching while walking, and laying down and walking is some nice attention to detail.

Gameplay: 8/10

Perfect Dark Zero does look better than this game, but this game does have a better single player mode than PDZ. Much, much better. The story is decent, and you don't mind playing through it. The map creation mode is quite good. Really, the only downfalls that I can think of for the gameplay are the lack of bots, meaning that you HAVE to play your created maps in multiplayer only, whether it's online, or off. You cannot play them beforehand to see if they work well. The other downfall is that the control scheme is a bit different from what many people may be used to for a console FPS game. Once you get used to it though, it's no problem. I wish that it supported more than 16 players online at a time, but, oh well, it doesn't. Being able to stalk people in jungle environments more than makes up for it. All in all, the game's good fun, and shouldn't be judged by it's looks alone, because that will bring down the score.

Overall: 8/10 (Not an Average)

This game is a good FPS game. Not great, but definitely good. Personally, I think it's worth a purchase, especially if you're like me and skipped FarCry back on the PC and Xbox. This is my first time playing the game, so none of it is stale. If you've played through the original FarCry Instincts, then rent it, but if not, it should be a purchase title. The multiplayer will provide a lot of fun. My friend will attest to that. We were having a blast (no pun intended) driving around in the various vehicles blowing the crap out of each other.
