PGR3 Review - Baker
Impressive graphics, not the best game overall. Since I have not had experience with the other PGR games, I can not tell you if this version is better then the last 2 versions. If you like racing games you may consider trying it. If you like racing games that are realistic then this may not be the right one for you. When you crash your car stays in perfect shape and you do not flip or have any wild crashes at any times. The same goes for the other cars. This game I think has a lot more potential then what they give it. I would mainly suggest if you like racing games, give it a shot. It’s at least worth that.
Graphics: 9 / 10
Wow, the graphics were fantastic! That’s the first thing that I noticed as I turned on the game. These graphics may just be one of the reasons that people buy this game. With the graphics as good as they are, it makes the game that much more enjoyable. A buddy of mine and I looked at this game and really said wow. It was one of those things that when you walk by, it really catches your eye. Comparing these graphics to the PS2 or the Game Cube, this one fully dominates the whole “Graphic Scene” in gaming consoles without a doubt.
Sound: 8 / 10
Not to appealing for the sound. All you here is a little beat in the background and the car shifting gears. Basically that’s all you really want to hear as far as I am concerned. To be totally honest, I was not in the best place that I could have been to fully analyze the sound.
Controls: 7 / 10
The controls were very simple. You have the gas button, break, and your steering. You can look in a lot of different views from your car, which makes it a little more interesting.
You can do a side view of your car as you are driving, too. Like I said, it's pretty basic -- not too much to learn.
Gameplay: 6 / 10
The Gameplay, I would say, gets more intense as you go. It starts out with some easy races and some easy trials and tends to get harder as you move along in the game. Like I said, people that are huge fans of racing games will probably like the game and its Gameplay. I personally think that all of the racing games have too much similarity. Basically in all racing games you have cup races or tournaments. Then you have your time trials and your licensing and getting new cars. That’s mainly what these games are about.
Overall: 6 / 10
Overall I’m going to have to say that the game was not very exciting. I think the game could be better then it was. It had great graphics, which is a huge plus. I think that the story mode and the racing was boring. It was the same thing over and over and it just did not have enough things to do. If you’re a racing fan, try it out. It might be what you're looking for.
