Over G FightersOver G FightersDescription:

This is the second air combat title to grace the Xbox 360 console. Not only does it bring air combat into the CURRENT generation of aircraft, but it also brings a much more enjoyable experience as a whole than Blazing Angels. The game features around 30 planes to pilot, which are unlockable by going through the single player mode.

Graphics: 6.5/10

This is a tough call. The rating would be much higher if I only took the planes into account, but because I have to take the ground and other objects into account, I have to mark this category down some. Remember though... The planes look OUTSTANDING, and they are pretty much what you see anyway. They really shine during the replays of your missions.
The ground textures look muddy sometimes, and that's disappointing, but since they're not too visible most of the time, just like some of the other objects (aircraft carriers for example), it won't bother you too much. Explosions all look too similar to each other too. Shouldn't they change depending on how you destroy the aircraft/target.

Over G FightersOver G FightersSound: 7/10

The sound for this game is adequate. The planes sound like they should, and explosions are okay, but they could be louder. Voice chatter sounds good, but weapons should be louder, especially the guns. The music is poor. What is there is alright, but there just isn't very much of it. This is fixable though. Just rip that old Kenny Loggins CD, and rock out to "Danger Zone".

Gameplay: 7.5/10

This is where the game shines brightest. Really, the only problems here are that the game seems a bit too slow, I don't think barrel rolls are possible, and ground targets are really difficult to bomb. You unlock different planes to fly (around 30 I think) by going through the single player mode, and the online game is great. Working together with a human wingman against three other teams of two is great fun. Just make sure that you have some of the better planes unlocked before really going online against others. The controls for the game are deep enough to give you a great amount of control over everything that your plane does, but not too complex that it's tough to learn. Really, the only thing that I would change about the gameplay is the overall speed. During replays, you can see how fast stuff is really moving, though. I just wish that I could get that same sense of speed while playing.

Over G FightersOver G FightersOverall: 7/10

Overall, I'd say that this game is a good choice, if you like flight sims, and PC air combat games. If you're expecting something really arcadey, and quick moving, look elsewhere. If you're looking for a fun and different online experience, then this might be a good choice for you. I would definitely suggest renting it first. It's not one of those titles that I can say everyone will enjoy (like Rockstar Table Tennis, or NBA 2K6). It all depends on how you approach it, and what you expect.
