This weekend, I went and saw the movie Stay Alive. At least I think it was supposed to be a movie. This is one of the most pitiful pieces of film making that I've seen in the last SEVERAL years. Yes folks, even Doom was better than this "movie". I had heard nothing in terms of reviews or opinions about the film before going to see it, but this is the basic premise...
A guy is beta testing a video game called Stay Alive. It's one of the creepiest video games ever (says the guy. He even says, and I quote, "It's scarier than Fatal Frame."). I'll give the film maker some credit for a decent premise for the film... You die in the game (thus resulting in Game Over), and then you die that very same way in real life. This could have been a good plot twist for a film, but the way that it was executed here was just poorly done and sloppy. It treats us gamers (who like movies) like idiots, and doesn't make you think at all.
Throw in a sappy love story, and some cliche slasher violence, and you have this entire movie in a nutshell. Save yourself the $10-$15 and don't even bother with this one. The most impressive thing about the entire film is the graphics of the "game" and they look pre-Xbox 360.
