Halo 3 was announced at E3 2006 with a 2 minute trailer, as earlier sources had confirmed.

In all likelihood, the Halo 3 game will be released in 2007 with the making of the movie. Which, by the way, is being produced by Peter Jackson! However as usually nothing goes as planned so the movie has been postponed to 2012.

Description:
Halo 3 is a first- person shooter set on Earth and several other planets located around the galaxy. Humans are being attacked by xenophobic alien races known as the Covenant. Through the length of Halo's story the humans detonated the door to a room in a building which they thought was a Covenant weapons cache. They were caught up in bodysnatching alien hordes called "The Flood" that take over their bodies to use for combat purposes. These aliens have numbers in the trillions and are willing to do anything to take over the galaxy and assume dominance.
