Goldeneye 64 coming to Xbox Live Arcade? This is a featured page

Update January 16, 2007: There is a petition floating around that as of today has over 16,000 signatures. 1UP actually wrote an article about ithere (1UP story). Here is the direct link to the petition:

Goldeneye for 360 Petition

Update: Looks to be just a rumor its unlikely that rare will actually be able to pull this off with all the licence issues.

Could it be true? I certainly hope so because Goldeneye 64 was the first true FPS game released that took my social life away from me. It defined the genre and to this day fans of the game still say it's the best out there.

It also defined what a true Multi player game should be, and trust me I have had some sleepless nights playing this game with my buddies.

Well hopefully luckily us Xbox 360 owners will get to experience it. Make sure you have a hard drive though. More info when we get it.

Theres no way EA would allow this. They currently hold the rights to the James Bond License and there is no way they would allow Rare to rerelease GoldenEye for XBox Live. The only way this dream would ever become a reality is if the following parties came to an agreement, Microsoft, Rare and EA. Wouldn't be that hard either since all Microsoft would have to do is hit EA off with some cash and Rare would have to make the source code work on not only the XBox 360 but also XBox Live.
