Not much is known about Forerunner, here are a few rumors
The name Forerunner refers to an advanced race that disappeared from the universe thousands of years ago.
Recent rumors indicate that Forerunner will be made in a modified version of the Halo 2 engine and feature “huge persistent worlds.” It is rumored that forerunner will not be linear although few details have surfaced on how exactly this will work.

actually, forerunner isnat a race at all, it is the space ship that the soldiers flew on during both halo 1 and 2. and i have also heard rumors that Halo 3 (or forerunner) will be a MMOFPS (for those of you who dont know, thats a massively multiplayer online first person shooter). I think that would be great, but a basic online option would be much better

This sounds very interesting. Where did you get this information from? Let's hope that they don't dissapoint with this game. Halo 2 was alittle bit of an anti climax.
